 Understanding  Bet Payout Times

You've placed a bet, your selection has won, and now you're waiting for your winnings to appear in your account. We understand you want your funds as quickly as possible. While most bets are paid out within minutes of the event's conclusion, the exact time can vary significantly depending on the sport and the specific market you bet on.

This article explains the settlement process and why some bets take longer than others to be paid out.

The General Payout Process
Every bet goes through a standard settlement process before winnings are credited:

Market Concludes: The specific event you bet on ends (e.g., a horse race finishes, a tennis game is won, or a soccer match ends).

Awaiting Official Results: This is the most crucial step. We must wait for the official governing body of the sport to confirm the final result. This ensures accuracy and fairness for all punters.

Bet Settlement: Once the official result is confirmed and received from our data providers, our systems automatically process and settle all related bets.

Funds Credited: Winnings are paid into your Sportsbet account.

The key variable is Step 2: the time it takes to receive official confirmation.

Payout Speed by Sport: Examples
Near-Instant Payouts (Typically 1-2 Minutes)

These markets have results that are immediately clear and officially confirmed with minimal delay.

Tennis: Bets on the winner of a specific point or game are usually settled moments after the point/game is over.

Basketball: Markets like 'First Team to 10 Points' or 'Quarter Winner' are settled very quickly once that period of play is complete.

Standard Payouts (Typically 2-15 Minutes)

These sports require a formal declaration from officials before results are finalised.

Horse Racing: Payouts on horse racing only occur after the "Correct Weight" signal is given by track stewards. This is a final confirmation that all horses have been weighed correctly and there are no protests or inquiries affecting the final placings.

Soccer: While a 'Full-Time Result' bet is usually quick, a 'First Goalscorer' market might take slightly longer. We must wait for the official match report to confirm the scorer and rule out any potential own goals.

Delayed Payouts (Can take up to 30-60 minutes post-game)

These bets rely on the compilation of comprehensive official statistics, which are only finalised after the event has completely finished.

AFL / NRL Player Stat Markets: Bets on player-specific outcomes, such as 'Most Disposals' (AFL), 'Most Tackles' (NRL), or player fantasy scores, are among the most common to experience a delay. Our providers must wait for the league's official data partner (e.g., Champion Data) to compile, verify, and release the final statistics for every player in the game. This process only begins after the final siren.

Cricket: A 'Player of the Match' market can only be settled once the official announcement is made during the post-match presentation.

What If My Bet Is Taking Longer Than Expected?
If your winning bet hasn't been settled after a reasonable period, please be patient. Delays are almost always related to waiting for official confirmation. If an unusual amount of time has passed (e.g., over an hour for a stat-based bet), feel free to contact our Customer Service team with your Bet ID handy, and we will be happy to investigate for you.
